What a crazy few months we've had at Dimension! The effects of COVID-19 on the business community has seen a huge influx in clients coming to us for branding advice and design from all over the country. There's also been a bit of a common theme... logo design websites.
For some business owners, the concept of a logo just feels like a fancy way of saying that you've chosen a few colours and slapped a clip art picture over the top. In reality, logo design is so much more than that. We've said it once and we'll say it again - it's all about telling a story.
Here's the reason that we have beef with online logo generating websites (and the first time we've dragged Wix through the mud). Cookie cutter just doesn't cut it. Allow us to explain... remember when Ugg boots were the best thing since sliced bread? Well, in the UK, 'Ella' came onto the scene and gave the world a cheap knock-off that was soon sopping wet from walking through British weather and trodden down on one side. If you're from the UK, you'll know exactly what we're talking about!
Still with us? What we're getting at is that when you get your AI generated logo from Vistaprint, Canva or one of the other services, it looks great. You download the PNG and it makes your business cards look a million bucks. Then, over time, you start to notice that actually your competitor down the road spent a little time and money on a professional designer and their branding just looks that much better. It's cohesive, slick, timeless. Oh, and it fits the whole message and story of the business.
The point here is that if clicking a couple of buttons and typing in your business name seems too good to be true, it probably is. Graphic designers, just like us, spend hours drafting concepts and designs which incorporate all of the facets of your brand and business. So, whilst it may take a little more time and money, the result will be a logo which will stand the test of time and carry your brand through.
