Why Website Design Is Important

Updated: Mar 11, 2022

In 2020 it seems as if the web is an endless vacuum of content. What makes your website stand out from the crowd? Let's talk...

Marketing, Fail, Marketing Agency, Mistakes

Websites today are a far cry from those of the early internet age. Basic HTML is now a thing of the past, replaced by CSS and Java powered sites which make the overall experience of the internet so much more immersive. And that's the key word here; 'experience'.

Whilst the possibilities are incredibly broad, we still have some boundaries when it comes to web design - for now. Whilst we may have to eat our words 5 years down the line, the bottom line is that websites typically follow a similar set of rules; various pages, a menu/navigation function, buttons, text, video and images. It's what you do with these elements though which makes your website just that much better than the competition.

This is where web design comes in. 'Web Design' is the process of building and creating a site with a focus on content production, layout design and visual design. It seems to be a relatively new term as typically when you were in need of a website 10 year ago, you'd start searching for a 'Web Developer'. The difference here, with all due respect, is that web designers "feel" the website, the way it moves, the transitions, colours, the content, the experience.

Let's imagine you're in need of a new car. You click onto one website which is relatively primitive, text based yet functional. Then, you head to another site which immerses you from the off. Video content, animations and a user experience (UX) that is intuitive. It seems as if it knows where you want to go. That's the difference that a web designer can make.

At Dimension Creative, we specialise in designing experiences on the web. We're passionate about telling a story through your website and immersing your audience in the details behind your business. If that's what you're looking for in your next website, let's talk.
